Painting is a method of apply paint ,pigment, color or other medium to solid surface  to give asthenic beauty and to enhance life span of material. there are Various paints available in Market for different use.

Paint and Painting:

Paints are liquid composition of pigment and binders which when applied to the surface in thin coat dry to form a solid film to import the surface a decorate finishing , giving protection to the base material from weathering corrosion and other chemical and biological attacks. Paints are useful material to preserve timber structure against warping and decay. painting on surface impart decoration  , sanitation and improved illumination.

• Paints preserve timber structure from warping and decay.
• Paints preserve iron (metal) from corrosion.
• Calcareous surface like lime and cement plastered surface , are highly alkaline in initial stages , they retain large quantity of water during construction and it takes long times to evaporate there fore , while applying paint on this surface it is essential to take congnisance of the stored moisture and alkality of the surface.

Characteristics of an ideal paint 

• should provided attractive surface.
• should durable should be easy.
• should be durable and thin hard film.
• should dry is certain time.
• well spreading quality so minimum can cover large area.
• should be free from foreign materials.
• free from atmospheric attack.
• free from hair crack after during.
• should show uniform color.
